Kootenay Medical Centre focuses on patient centered care, which incorporates patient values into their healthcare plan.

Our patients have a primary family physician, however we also function as a team based care clinic, ensuring timely access to a physician when needed. Should your regular doctor be away, an appointment can be made with other physician within our clinic thus ensuring continuum of care for all our attached patients.

Family Medicine

Our physician team works collaboratively with their group of assigned patients, ensuring efficient and effective co-ordination of ongoing healthcare needs for every patient.

Kootenay Medical Centre is home to six cohesive Family physicians, two medical office assistants, one administrative manager and one chronic disease nurse. Our physician group are well trained medical generalists, who are constantly strengthening their medical knowledge and skills.

Health & Wellness

Living a healthy lifestyle is the first step in taking charge of your own wellness. It's simple - Living Healthy leads to better health outcomes!

We recommend focusing on these five priorities:  Portion size, increase your fruits and vegetables, reduce alcohol consumption, exercise frequently and of course quit smoking (or any other negative consumption habits!).

Healthy Food Choices

Making healthy food choices can often be challenging in our fast paced lifestyles. However, making correct food choices for ourselves and our families is critical for overall health and well being.

But how do we ensure we eat healthy most of the time, even with a busy lifestyle? Planning ahead, purchasing fewer processed foods, increasing fruits and vegetables are a few of the suggestions from Dietitians with HealthLinkBC.

Treadmill

Physical activity, a cornerstone of Health and Wellness, benefits not only your waist circumference, but also your mental and emotional well-being.

Including physical activity into daily life is critical for overall health and well being, even daily walks have health benefits!

Feel like you dont have time for exercise, or cant self motivate? Review these topics from HealthlinkBC to get you on the right track
